A Lifelong Bucket List
If I were to kick the bucket,
Before my bucket list, I'd
Uncrumple that piece of notebook paper
With my six-year old dreams etched on it
In immortalized lead markings.
The paper is dusty and weathered
From being uncrumpled and crumpled up
So many times as
I grew older and had more dreams to add.
When I was six, I created the list,
And wrote that I wanted to
Sing.
Now, nine years later, I can but
I don't in public because
Nine years is more than enough time to be
Self-conscious and six is too young
For self-consciousness.
When I was seven, I wrote that
I wanted to
Be a vet.
I loved animals, and it seemed
Like a good thing
